WDA FRIENDSHIP CIRCLE
A great way to get acquainted with the women in WDA is to attend our Friendship Circle which meets the third Tuesday of each month year-around. Approximately 16-20 women meet for lunch at 11 am, in Channing Hall unless noted on the schedule of hostesses. Occasionally we go to a restaurant or may be invited to a member's home several times a year.
About half of the women have been members long enough to remember the time when it was known as the "Sewing Circle." The other half have found the WDA and Friendship Circle in the past decade, some as recently as a month or two ago.
Our sole purpose is to get to know each other better, build new friendships, and maintain old friendships. We do not have a planned program - we prefer informality and spontaneity. The hostesses start a conversation around the circle (we actually sit in a circle when meeting in Channing Hall). It is amazing how quicly we get to know each other -- even if each person only says a few words. And we always have a few laughs too.
Each of us brings her own sandwich. The hostesses provide salad, dessert and beverages. We continue our conversations over lunch at noon.
To be added to the Friendship Circle phone list, call Marjorie Niemann at (214) 324-3294. We call those on the list a few days before each meeting to get a head count and as a reminder.
After the Friendship Circle meets, the Movie Club gathers.
